SKY Energy® Inc. markets and sells Wind-e® Renewable Energy, which is the certified environmental attributes and benefits of zero-emission, renewable wind energy as it is generated on the national power grid. Wind-e® Renewable Energy is generated “fresh” from the wind turbines and is sold to customers within six (6) months from the time that it is generated. By purchasing SKY Energy® Wind-e® Renewable Energy, companies, institutions, and individuals can play an active role in helping to reduce air pollution, while also supporting the continued development of wind energy for a modest premium above your local utility company.
SKY Energy® has an internal verification process using serial numbers that ensures that the customer is purchasing Wind-e® Renewable Energy. In addition, the purchase and sale agreements for the certificates are independently verified by an accounting and auditing firm each year. It is important to our company and our future to provide what you purchase.
Brian chose the name because the SKY connects us all and is visible around the globe at any given time. It is ever changing and yet incredibly powerful. SKY Energy® is from above meaning that we make clean energy from renewable sources that are from the atmosphere, not from the ground. The Y represents the three-bladed turbine as well as always questioning things and the circle continuity.
No, you do not have to switch power companies. That’s because SKY Energy® Wind-e® Renewable Energy is a premium paid independent from your energy provider. You will still receive and be required to pay your existing power company bill in addition to your separate SKY Energy® monthly bill.
The turbines are strategically located in high-wind regions; therefore, they generate more energy at a lower cost. This allows us to pass the savings on to you the consumer. Most wind farms are located in western and mid-western rural areas that allow farming and agriculture to take place underneath them due to minimal land requirements and low impact placement. We also purchase from multiple selected SKY Energy® certified suppliers, helping to ensure that we obtain the most competitive prices for our clients.
Air pollution is a global concern. It does not matter whether you are 10 miles from a coal plant or 100 miles; air pollution is still emitted into the atmosphere. The atmosphere connects us all; we all breathe the same air and are affected by the global changes in the environment. Therefore, any contribution, household, commercial, or institutional, has positive implications for the global environment. It will take time to reverse the effects of pollution, but there is no better time to start than now!
Wind energy costs more for several reasons. Although wind turbine technology has improved drastically since the mid 70’s, it is slightly more expensive to build and develop wind farms than coal or natural gas energy plants. In addition, fossil fuels and nuclear energy receive the vast majority of government subsidies. (Ask your senator and congress representative to pass tax incentives for customers who purchase Wind-e® Renewable Energy). Currently, wind energy makes up less than one percent of the energy source on the national power grid. As the amount of wind energy increases, the cost should continue to decline as technology and support of renewable energy continues to build. Wind energy is scalable and becomes less expensive as more turbines are installed and contribute to the grid.
You are buying the environmental attributes and benefits of renewable wind energy. The energy itself is distributed into the national grid and is used as needed by the network of power alliances within that area and network. Your support of wind energy, through purchasing SKY Energy® Wind-e® Renewable Energy, can be looked at in a simpler sense through an analogy:
Wind energy is completely renewable and one of the cleanest ways to produce energy. Therefore, as we actively choose and add more wind energy - via SKY Energy® Wind-e® Renewable Energy - it is as if we are adding more clean pure water to a large pool or sea of water. The water is already dirty and clouded by less clean and polluting depositors of water. As we continue to add pure water - i.e. wind energy - we begin to offset the negative impact of the less pure or already polluted water supply in the pool or sea - i.e. the national power grid. As more and more clean renewable energy is added to the national grid the lower the need, or growth, of more polluting forms of energy production.
No. You will continue to receive your power from your local supplier, so any power fluctuations or problems will be a direct result of your energy provider and the subsequent providers to which it is linked. Wind energy generation does vary, however, even in the windier regions. However, the fluctuations of wind energy are balanced by the other energy producing facilities on the grid, which can increase or reduce energy production as needed. The great aspect of Wind-e® Renewable Energy Certificates is that they are created as the wind blows and are available in varying quantities in different locations as needed.
Your electricity and power line maintenance will continue to be serviced by your local power provider. If you have power supply issues you will still contact and rely on them.
Wind-e® Renewable Energy certificates can be applied toward becoming a member of the EPA Green Power Partnership depending on the percentage of your organizations total energy consumption. One additional advantage of purchasing SKY Energy® Wind-e® Renewable Energy is that businesses and institutions can apply these credits towards reaching Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
